Round 8 of the Bridgestone Production cars tookplace at the East London Grand Prix circuit on the 30th October 2010.

After solving some technical issues Michael faced in Killarney, he was optimistic of a good result in East London.

Practice:

During the Practice sessions on Friday, Michael topped the time sheets in 2 of the 3 sessions, Leaving him very optimistic for a strong race day showing.

Qualifying:

Qualifying went well for Michael, obtaining 3rd position for race 1 and 2nd position for race 3. The times were extremely close, as Michael was only 0.049s off pole, and 0.001s off 2nd position. The close times were certainly going to lead to close battles at the front.

Race 1

Race 1 did not get off to the best start for the Michael as he dropped to 4th position at the start. He followed closely behind Melville Priest in the BMW but could not find a way past. Michael eventually finished the race in 3rd position behind Fourie and Priest.

Race 2

With the inverted grid for race two, this left Michael starting from 3rd on the grid. Michael had a great start and took second place into Potters corner. After chasing down leader Da Cunha, Michael passed da Cunha on lap 3 and pulled a gap to take a well earned victory and set the fastest lap of the race in the process.

Race 3

Starting from 2nd on the grid, Michael slipped back to 3rdat the start, as a result of starting on the outside line. However, he wasted no time and passed Fourie into the fastest corner on the track, Rifle Bend to retain 2nd position. Michael then chased down Taylor and managed to pull a gap to 3rd place Fourie. Michael managed to close the gap to Taylor on the last lap and made 1 attempt for the lead, just not managing to get past and received the chequered flag in a good 2nd position.

Overall

With a string of 3 podium positions on the day, this left Michael totake the overall Victory for the day. This is Michael’s first Overall victory for the year after finishing 2nd on two other occasions. Credit for this great result needs to goto the entire team and sponsors for their hard work and dedication they have put in over the last few weeks.
