After a Bridgestone Production Car race
victory at Aldo Scribante, Michael Stephen heads to Kyalami confident
of a good showing. The event will take place in Midrand on 28 March
2009.
Although the rear-wheel drive teams are all based in
Gauteng and have more opportunities to test at Kyalami, Audi driver’s
won four of the six races held at Kyalami in 2008. In these statistics,
Michael took one victory and a second place finish.
The BMW 330i
was strong down at the coast and should be even stronger at Kyalami.
With Production Car racing being as close as it is however, the car
that will more than likely pose an understated threat is the Subaru WRX
STI. Either way you look at it, Michael will have his work cut out for
him.
“My Audi feels strong, so much so, that we were able to
stay with the pack even after the suspension was damaged in PE. This
bodes well for our chances and I will be going for the race win,”
remarked Michael.
“Looking at the bigger picture in the
championship, I didn’t have the best start to the 2008 season and
having lost the championship by such a marginal amount last year, I was
determined to start 2009 with a victory. I have done just that and now
need to keep the momentum going,” concluded Michael.
Michael
will be in action on 28 March 2009. Race day now also includes the
qualifying session and Michael looks forward to meeting his Audi fans
in pitlane.
